National Small Business Advocate Launches “100 Black Businesses Bankable” Initiative
Talibah M. Bayles, Founder & CEO of TMB Tax & Financial Services recently announced the launch of a nationwide initiative designed to help Black and women-owned small businesses secure long-term business profitability. The 100 Black Businesses Bankable Initiative, was launched by the for-profit company in partnership with its newly formed 501c(3) nonprofit sister organization Access Granted Inc.
For decades, minority-owned and managed businesses have struggled with the strenuous task of effectively running their day-to-day activities and also ensuring that their financial records are properly kept and managed in line with state and federal regulations.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the local small business community, Talibah saw an opportunity to make a real difference, particularly for small business owners of color who have historically faced systemic barriers to accessing capital through financial institutions. A former federal government employee of 15 years, Talibah was perfectly equipped to educate and advocate for those businesses that were left behind by federal funding programs.
In July of 2020, Ms. Bayles appeared before the US Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship, providing testimony as an advocate for minority-owned small businesses shut out of disaster relief funding.
Through Access Granted Inc., Talibah works closely with local, state, and federal organizations to provide small business owners with open access to information, growth tips and strategies, as well as free or radically discounted accounting, bookkeeping and tax services.
Ms. Bayles is a current member of the 2021 Birmingham, Alabama Class of SBA Emerging Leaders, and the Alabama Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). She is a former member of the City of Birmingham’s Inaugural Small Business Council (SBC) 2019 – 2021.
TMB Tax & Financial Services is a full-service tax advisory and small business financial wellness firm that also offers loan packaging services for all opportunities that require business owners to produce tax documents, profit, and loss statements, and also helps businesses access potential local, state, and federal programs available for funding their various projects.
